چکیده
II. The Foundations of Organic Chemistry A. The branch of chemistry specializing in the study of carbon compounds. 1. Organic molecules are molecules containing carbon. 2. Called organic molecules because these compounds were only found in living beings. 3. Vitalism a. Belief in a life force outside the jurisdiction of chemical/physical laws. b. Organic chemistry in early 19th century was built on a foundation of vitalism because organic chemists could not artificially synthesize organic compounds. c. Chemists and biologists believed that only living organisms could produce organic compounds. 4. Mechanism a. Belief that all natural phenomena are governed by physical and chemical laws. b. Pioneers of organic chemistry began to synthesize organic compounds from inorganic molecules. c. This helped shift mainstream biological thought from vitalism to mechanism. d. For example, Fredrich Wohler synthesized urea in 1828; Herman Kolbe synthesized acetic acid.

Multi-wall Carbon Nanotubes Supported Molybdenum Acetylacetonate: Efficient and Highly Reusable Catalysts for Oxidation of Sulfides with Tert-butyl Hydroperoxide
In the present work, highly efficient oxidation of sulfides catalyzed by MoO2(acac)2 supported on multi-wall carbon nanotubes, MWCNTs, modified with 1,2-diaminobenzene (DAB) and 2-aminophenol (AP), at room temperature are reported. The effects of various parameters such as reaction time, solvent, catalyst amount, oxidant, etc, were studied. These heterogenized catalysts showed high activity in ...

Ammonium Perchlorate (AP) is one of the most important oxidizer in composite solid propellants. Therefore, synthesis and application of nanoparticles as catalyst for improving thermal decomposition of AP is an important issue in catalysis research. There are a great many nanomaterials for the thermal decomposition of AP such as nano metal particles, metal oxides, metals salts, metallic composit...
متن کاملActive Packaging Technologies with an Emphasis on Antimicrobial Packaging and its Applications
In response to the dynamic changes in current consumer demand and market trends, the area of Active Packaging (AP) is becoming increasingly significant. Principal AP systems include those that involve oxygen scavenging, moisture absorption and control, carbon dioxide and ethanol generation, and antimicrobial (AM) migrating and nonmigrating systems. Of these active packaging systems, the AM vers...
متن کاملEntrance skin dose assessment of selected computed radiography facilities in Ghana
Background: The basic challenge with computed radiography (CR) systems is the large dynamic range which provides an opportunity for radiographers to gradually increase exposure factors and still produce good image quality, a practice that can lead to dose creep. Materials and Methods: The aim of this study was to establish the entrance skin dose (ESD) values for nine selected examinations in t...
